Miami has always attracted people from all over the world. Northerners love to vacation and buy second homes here for the warm and tropical climate. It’s been known as the “Gateway to the Americas,” and many investors from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe have taken advantage of current low prices for our residential real estate. A large part of its appeal to me is this variation in where we all came from.
What isn’t so well known is how friendly it can be. There’s a lot of really good people that either live here full time or travel here for any number of reasons.

Years back I helped a couple with the sale of their house. Most of the business I’m involved in is through referrals of past customers or business affiliations. A local lender asked me to contact them, so I made the initial contact and met with them a few days later. We reviewed market conditions and marketing strategies, and the next day went live with the sale. These were hands on people so we met once a week to review the sale progress. They were gracious hosts, so it became a habit to sit at their kitchen table and have our discussion over a cup of coffee. We became friends.
We stayed in touch even though they moved out of state after the house sold. The following year at Thanksgiving they came back to Miami and we met for coffee. They attended a Bonsai show with me at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Bonsai is a hobby of mine, and it was great to share that with them. Now we try to meet every year to catch up, with a good cup of coffee of course.
This year, we got our coffee to go and paid a visit to Miami Tropical Bonsai, a local bonsai nursery, to spend some time together. This nursery is part of the Historic Redland Tropical Trail. If you go, allow yourself a good hour to explore and take it all in.
Here are my friends, Gustavo and Colette, at the entrance sign. Both are a real pleasure to be around.
If you or someone you know is looking to buy or sell real estate in Miami, please take a look at a few of the testimonials from our past customers and give us a call. We’d love to meet you too.
