Pinecrest
The Village of Pinecrest was incorporated on March 12, 1996 and is home to an estimated 18,223 residents, according to the 2010 Census. It encompasses approximately eight square miles and is recognized as one of the most beautiful residential areas in South Florida. Pinecrest has a handful of parks, various private and public schools and it’s own Community Center, which opened in 2008. The Pinecrest Community Center provides a focal point for the community to meet and participate in personal enrichment programs including health and fitness. The center offers a myriad of enrichment programs for children and adults.
A staple within the community is Pinecrest Gardens. Built in the 1930′s, it features over one thousand varieties of rare and exotic tropical plants and palm trees in a native tropical hardwood and cypress setting. Their dramatic landscape enhanced with natural streams, sinkholes, caves and fissures provide a breathtaking backdrop to the historically designated structures and buildings. The site is the former home of Parrot Jungle. Pinecrest acquired the property in 2002. The facility houses a children’s water park, a petting zoo, beautiful trails and a children’s playground.
