South Miami
Considered “The City of Pleasant Living”, the City of South Miami was incorporated in 1927 and is one of Miami-Dade County’s oldest municipalities. It borders the University of Miami’s main campus and the cities of Coral Gables and Pinecrest. While the city is about 2.5 square miles, the “town center” area east of US1 is a vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment venue with a hometown ambiance.
There are two major hospitals within the City of South Miami, over a dozen private and public schools, and eleven parks. The City’s downtown business district continues to experience significant private development investment as well as improvements to the City infrastructure within the area.
The Shops at Sunset Place is home to leading retailers such as Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble Superstore, Niketown, The Disney Store, Victoria’s Secret, and Z-Gallerie among other well known national chains and small local specialty shops. Additionally, The Shops at Sunset Place offers several dining and entertainment options including Dan Marino’s Town Tavern, Panera Bread, Splitsville Luxury Lanes & Dinner Lounge, AMC Sunset Place 24 and Color Me Mine.
